Hot day today!

Tomato plants are doing well - over a foot high now - same goes for the potatoes. Capsicums look like they need mulching but great news! We have purslane growing wild! Reputed to be a good source of B12 and great in salads. I have put my bonsai into the green house to nurse them through the hot days. They are needing some TLC.

I have to go to a friends garden to soak a suffering wisteria - I didn't realise they were so thirsty! Ours must have been right into the rain water tank!

I want to plant seeds soon - cool day tomorrow and few showers forecast - perfect!

Gardening frenzy

I have just moved with two housemates into a new property with a selection of my favorite plants from the last place.

The new house has amazing rich soil and needs a lot of work to clear the abundant growth of borage, marshmallow, spinach and silverbeet but there has been soooo much rain of late that the soil is magnificent and the weeds just about fall out of the ground.

Yesterday I put in to tomatoes I bought from the Fern Avenue Community Garden open day. I also put in a thai chilli and six capsicum plants - orange and 'blue' ones.

I love different vegies and have black russian tomatoes and a few other really cool ones also that I will list presently.

I planted out the carpet daisy, lambs ears, yarrow and mystery prostrate fruiting thing that I need identified. I also put in the perennial basil finally and the choko which should establish quickly up the trellis that is now in place.

I want to try to grow luffas and watermellons 'up' a trellis as I think they look really attractive and it is a good use of space. I am happy for the pumpkin to sprawl down the side as it is a good ground cover.

It's all so very exciting! :D
